Arsenal’s former midfielder Patrick Vieira has emerged as the possible candidate to take up the managerial post at Newcastle. He will be joining the likes of Steve McClaren, Derby County’s manager who recently was sacked by the team, as the possible new managers on Newcastle United. Over the past couple of days Newcastle United, which slightly survived being relegated from the Premier League, having been undergoing a number of changes and have already released Jonas Gutierrez as well as Taylor as well as their previous manager John Carver.
According to reports Newcastle’s managing director, Lee Charnley, expects to be making his final decision regarding who will be Newcastle’s new manager by the end of this week. For him to be able to do this, he will have to push things up a bit and as a result he is expected to meet up with Patrick Vieira this week.
Vieira, a former Arsenal midfielder, is currently at the end his contract with the youth side of Premier League club Manchester City and he is yet to receive a contract extension from City under-21s management. As much as Vieira, 39, doesn’t actually have a frontline managerial experience, he is highly regarded at Manchester City and he is bound to receive lots of support from the Newcastle fans.
Vieira has in the past indicated that he might be willing to try up the post of managing Newcastle, stating two years ago that St Jame’s Park was without a doubt one of his favorite Premier League grounds.
