CARMELO ANTHONY TO HAVE A SEASON ENDING SURGERY

CARMELO ANTHONY TO HAVE A SEASON ENDING SURGERY

Carmelo Anthony is set to miss the remainder of the NBA season due to a surgery that the Knicks forward is set to have, said the Knicks on Wednesday.

The Knicks power forward will have a patella tendon debridement as well as repair so as to remove a dead and damaged tissue that has been bothering the eight-time-All-star forward since the second game of the 2014 -2015 season, the Knicks said in a statement.

The recovery which is expected to take up to six months will see Carmelo Anthony miss the remainder of Knicks season.

Carmelo, who is playing his first season of a five year deal that will see him earn $124 million, has without a doubt proved to be the Key of Knicks team which has failed to impress these season. Anthony was averaging 24.2 points a game with 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists in the 40 games that he played for the Knicks this season.

Although the power forward played at the All-Star game on Sunday, he has been having some pain on his knee something which has made him miss some Knicks fixtures these season.

While speaking about the issue, Knicks President Phil Jackson said that the medical staff of New York Knicks had cleared the star to play at Sunday’s All-star game.

"We know it was type of surgery that is corrective, and he could play on it," Jackson said. "He could tweak it as he has a number of times this year. It causes discomfort and inability to play at times. We felt comfortable with him playing in the All-Star Game."

New York Knicks record without Carmelo this season is 0-13 and they are currently positioned last with 10-43 record.
