The president of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, is an angry man. Just a few days after he was re-elected as FIFA’s president, Blatter has launched a vicious attack against the U.S justice system as well as the British media for what he terms as a campaign initiated by the two so as to have him removed from his position as FIFA president.
Over the past couple of days there have been several high-ranking FIFA officials who have been arrested regarding corruption and the press in British have linked Blatter with the corruption allegation with some even stating that Blatter might be the high-ranking official who actually authorized a payment of $10 million. In his message to his enemies, Blatter said that, “I forgive but don’t forget.”
According to Blatter, the recent arrest of high-ranking FIFA officials including its vice president, Eugenio Figueredo and Jeffrey Webb, was actually designed so as to remove him from his post as FIFA’s president and was motivated by revenge.
Over the past few days several FIFA officials had been arrested at a hotel in Zurich called Baur au Lac hotel by the Swiss police, following those arrests there have been calls from a number of people who demand that Blatter steps down. As for the arrests, this is only just the begin, according to the U.S. federal investigators as well as Richard Weber, the country’s head of Internal Revenue Services, there are bound to be more arrests as well as indictments in the coming days.
“I’m fairly confident that we will have another round of indictments,” said Weber while he was speaking to the New York Times. “We strongly believe there are other people and entities involved in criminal acts.”
